White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted to reporters last week that Joe Biden takes the border crisis "very seriously."

That couldn't be further from the truth. In the days since Karine Jean-Pierre's comments, we've learned that Joe Biden has had a non-existent relationship with two of the Border Patrol chiefs that have served under him.

Raul Ortiz, who was the chief of the Border Patrol from August 2021 through June 2023, told 60 Minutes in an interview that aired Sunday, "I've never had one conversation with the president. Or the vice president, for that matter. And so I was the chief of the border patrol. I commanded 21,000 people. That's a problem."

And today, Fox News reported that Joe Biden hadn't yet met with Jason Owens, the current Border Patrol chief, until last Thursday when Biden visited Brownsville.

How can Joe Biden be taking the border "seriously" when he doesn't even bother to talk with the men running the Border Patrol?

Biden should listen to Rodney Scott, who was the Border Patrol chief until August 2021. Scott told Fox News last week, "We handed them the most secure border in the history of the United States and a roadmap to keep it that way and make it even better. Through 94 executive actions, President Biden completely destroyed border security."
