Good evening,
Jim Acosta must have been dismayed to hear CNN's polling analyst, Harry Enten, explain Saturday that President Donald J. Trump is in an extremely strong position heading into the 2024 election.
"The polling indicates that Trump is, in fact, in a stronger position at this point than he was during the entire 2020 campaign, according to the national polls," Enten said. "If we had state-level polling, I wouldn’t even be surprised if Trump were ahead in the swing states that are most important."
President Trump's strength in general election polling is occurring despite the Democrats' best efforts to weaponize law enforcement. Last week, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis unveiled a ridiculous indictment against President Trump that attempts to criminalize free speech.
It's no surprise such a weak, political indictment would come from Willis, given that her office is full of Democrat donors.
President Trump is undeterred and Republicans are standing by him. It's worth taking a look at what the latest CBS News/YouGov poll discovered. For starters, 92 percent of Republicans think the indictment against President Trump is "politically motivated."
The CBS poll found that President Trump has a massive lead over the Republican field with 62 percent support. Among voters who expressed that they are supporting or considering supporting President Trump, 99 percent said it is because "things were better under Trump."
Indeed, America was better under Trump. MAGA Inc's latest national ad, "Remember," highlights how under President Trump's leadership, America was safer, wealthier, and more secure. By contrast, under Joe Biden's lack of leadership, Americans are struggling economically with decreasing wages and soaring prices.
But it's not just about having a track record and a vision. To effect change, one needs to win, and President Trump is the strongest candidate to take on Joe Biden. Voters know this. CBS found that 61 percent of Republicans say that Trump would "definitely beat Biden."
Finally, Americans who want to save America aren't "listless vessels" for supporting President Trump, like Governor Ron DeSantis argued this week. They know President Trump delivered for them and they know he will deliver yet again. Unlike most candidates, President Trump actually has policy plans on his website.
Ron DeSantis' attack on the majority of the Republican Party is shameful. It's a desperation shot from a sinking vessel.
