Garland Condemned for Politicizing the DOJ

Attorney General Merrick Garland is being condemned for launching yet another witch hunt against President Donald Trump days after President Trump announced his 2024 run.

Even the media knows that this is damaging to the Justice Department’s credibility. Watch the reaction HERE.

Here is what people are saying about AG Garland’s appointment of special counsel Jack Smith.

Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy said on Fox and Friends Saturday:  “It's the weaponization of our federal law enforcement and the DOJ. It looks bad because it is bad.”

Congressman Ronny Jackson tweeted: “WITCH HUNTS continue! Special Counsel Jack Smith is reprehensible. Deep Staters are doing everything they can to harm President Trump! And they aren’t even hiding it by appointing Smith. Smith has been targeting conservatives going back to Lois Lerner in 2010. Stand with Trump!”

The Republicans on the House Judiciary tweeted out a Just the News article that mentioned Jack Smith’s role in the IRS’ targeting of conservative non-profits.

The House Judiciary GOP wrote, “Jack Smith and his buddies have been politicizing Washington for AGES.   And he’s who AG Garland picked to be the special counsel to “investigate” President Trump? Come on.”

The Just the News article reveals that a 2014 report from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the Lois Lerner scandal noted that Jack Smith wanted the IRS to probe nonprofits based off a New York Times article.

Congressman Andy Biggs, member of the Judiciary Committee, tweeted, “The corrupt DOJ appoints a special counsel to investigate President Trump the same week he announces a 2024 run.  Has there ever been a more politicized and weaponized DOJ in American history?”

Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett said on Hannity: “This named special counsel is far from impartial and neutral. He served in the DOJ during two Democrat administrations. He's clearly biased politically."

Congressman Troy Nehls wrote, “AG Merrick Garland is now appointing a special counsel to investigate Trump the same week he announced a 2024 run.   What a joke.   The DOJ is a political weapon, and everyone knows it.”

Article III Project President Mike Davis said in a statement: “The blatant political bias within the Biden Justice Department erodes trust from the American people that justice is fairly applied to everyone, regardless of their political affiliation. Like with the politically-motivated and baseless Mueller probe, Garland knows a special counsel will unnecessarily drag on and leave a dark political cloud over Trump while he’s running for president over the next two years. Garland’s third-world election interference will no doubt make his boss happy. Indeed, Biden knows he can’t beat Trump, so he’ll simply indict him.”

Davis also noted that special counsel Jack Smith previously took out Virginia Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell in a case that was thrown out by the Supreme Court.  “In 2010, Obama Attorney General Eric Holder picked Jack Smith to run Public Integrity Section.  Smith took out VA Gov. Bob McDonnell as a potential Republican presidential candidate--on bogus corruption charges.  Supreme Court reversed, 9-0.  Now Smith is back--to take out Trump.”

The Washington Examiner reported: “While chief of the DOJ’s Public Integrity Section, Smith helped with the prosecution against then-Gov. Bob McDonnell, who was indicted and convicted on federal corruption charges related to bribery in 2014. The Supreme Court unanimously overturned McDonnell’s conviction in 2016.”

Congressman-elect Cory Mills tweeted: “AG Garland getting a special counsel to investigate Pres Trump a week after his announcement to run is further demonstrated weaponization of federal government and abuse of power by Biden.”

Mark Levin tweeted: “AG Garland didn’t bring in an outsider for Special Counsel who can bring sober thinking into Trump cases - he brought in one of his bureaucrats.”
